NAC MG announces launch date for new MG TF LE500!

MG sports cars are still heading stateside according to a report from Automotive News China. Oklahoma Global Motors, lead by former Lotus executive John English is working to establish 40 dealers in the U.S. with sales of the MGTF roadster to begin toward the end of this year. A U.S. produced MGTF coupe is also scheduled for production in 2008. Kim Custer, a spokesman for MG cars USA recently informed us that MG are also considering a range of sedans for the U.S. market.

NAC-MG’s new MGTF sportscar and MG7 saloon are now rolling off the assembly line in Nanjing’s Pukou production facility in China. Nanjing is also producing the KV6 petrol engine that will power MG’s current products as well as new products scheduled for the near future. After many in depth conversations with Nanjing Automobile Corporation (NAC) a ‘trusted partnership’ has grown between the MG Owners Club and NAC where the Club has been able to advise on MG’s rich historical heritage and how the brand can best be resurrected in former markets and projected into new ones. MG Owners Club support car production at Longbridge

An MG-themed mini-park could open soon near the old MG factory in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. According to a report from Autowired, the project will be funded by Abingdon MG Car Club, the local District Council and local Joint Environmental Trust Council. The idea for the new park came out of a need to utilize the ‘eyesore’ property next to the old factory. Lesley Legge, a local councilor told Autowired, “It’s close to the old MG factory and I would like to see something in the town that shows our connection with MG.”
Only days after Nanjing Automotive Corporation (NAC) confirmed that MG car production was set to resume at Longbridge, enthusiasts of the legendary British marque, are being given the opportunity to speak directly with NAC representatives in the UK and in China.
The discussion will commence at 1100hrs on Thursday 8th February 2007 on MG-Rover.org – the world’s largest MG & Rover enthusiasts’ website. Fielding questions from MG enthusiasts worldwide will be NAC’s Stephen Cox in the United Kingdom and Paul Stowe in China. Paul is Quality Director with NAC in China, whilst Stephen is Longbridge based and responsible for Sales and Franchising within the United Kingdom, European Union and other selected MG markets, which will be serviced from NAC’s UK base at Longbridge. Things are progressing at Nanjing-MG, their MGTF is ready for production and rumors over at enthusiast website MG-Rover.org suggest they’re gearing up to relaunch an updated range of sedans too. ChinaCarTimes.com recently spotted the new MG7 sedan, which is expected to launch soon after the TF roadster.
